Karl-Dietrich Gundermann

Karl-Dietrich Gundermann (born November 20, 1922 in Breslau , † January 16, 1995 in Clausthal-Zellerfeld ) was a German chemist.

Gundermann concluded in Berlin with a degree in chemistry with a diploma in Hermann Leuchs doctorate, and in 1948 in Münster at Fritz Micheel to Dr. rer. nat. with a thesis on the synthesis of thiol carboxylic acids. In 1964 Gundermann was appointed Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Technical University of Clausthal , where he was Director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry until his retirement in 1988.

His main teaching and research areas were the chemiluminescence of organic compounds, substituted acrylic acid derivatives and investigations into the structure of coal .

Karl-Dietrich Gundermann was rector of the Clausthal University of Technology from 1974 to 1976 and 1978 to 1980.

He was a knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem , a member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society and an honorary senator of the Clausthal University of Technology.
