Mate in 5 moves

Template: checkerboard / maintenance / new

Solution:
1. Ne7! Lc7 2. Nf5 ( threatens matt Sxg3 and Sg7 matt) LE5 (covers both points) 3. d4 b6 4. dxe5 matt besides 5. Sxg3 . If 3.… b5 4. d5 ( forced move , the black bishop has to move and thus give up cover for g3 or g7; just not 4. dxe5? Because of stalemate ) and 5. Nxg3 / Ng7 checkmate .

If Black plays 1.… Bd6 (which is occasionally mentioned in the solution), there is a second solution besides the mentioned solution: 2. Rxd6 Kg5 3. Rg6 + Kh5 4. Nf5 and 5. Nxg3 / Ng7 mate.

1. d4 fails? b5 2. dxe5 stalemate, also failed 1. d3? b6 2. d4 b5 3. dxe5 patt
