Karl-Heinz Liebl (born February 4, 1953 ) was the full-time choir director and voice trainer at the Regensburger Domspatzen at the side of cathedral music director Roland Büchner until 2018 .

After his time as a student at the music high school of the Regensburger Domspatzen at the time of Domkapellmeister Georg Ratzinger , Karl-Heinz Liebl studied at the educational science faculty in Munich and at the Academy for Church Music and Music Education in Regensburg (today the University for Catholic Church Music and Music Education ), where he also passed his exams and state exams in concert singing and voice training . After completing his studies, Liebl returned to the Domspatzen in 1976 as a choirmaster and voice trainer and since then has regularly organized the services with his choir in St. Peter's Cathedral in Regensburg - alternating with the other Domspatzen choir groups . In addition, Liebl conducted a large number of concerts and television appearances by the Domspatzen in Regensburg and at numerous other locations in Germany and abroad.

Karl-Heinz Liebl has already taken the Domspatzen several times on trips abroad to East Asia. In addition to his work at the Domspatzen, he is a member of the national committee of the Pueri Cantores Association and lecturer for voice training at the East Bavarian Technical University of Regensburg .

In 2015 he founded the Pueri Cantores Diocesan Association Regensburg and acted as its first chairman.

On July 22, 2018, Liebl conducted his last cathedral office as an active choir director. A male choir made up of over 200 of its former and current singers sang. His long-time friend, the Eichstätter cathedral music director Christian Heiss , had composed a motet especially for this purpose called Cantate Domino . His successor is Max Rädlinger .
