Karl-Heinz Schroff switched from VfR Aalen to the Stuttgarter Kickers in 1974 . On the first day of the 2. Bundesliga 1974/75 he made his professional debut when he was in the starting XI against SV Waldhof Mannheim on August 3, 1974. The striker played a total of 78 games in the 2. Bundesliga South for the Kickers and scored 17 goals.
After this time Schroff played for SG Eintracht Bad Kreuznach , Stuttgarter SC and 1. FC Eislingen .
