Karl-Wilhelm Merks

Karl-Wilhelm Merks (* 1939 ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Merks studied Roman Catholic theology , philosophy and classical languages at the University of Bonn , the University of Friborg / Switzerland and the University of Toulouse / France. In 1977 Merks received his doctorate with a dissertation on moral autonomy under Thomas Aquinas . From 1981 until his retirement in 2004 Merks worked as a professor for moral theology at the Theological Faculty in Tilburg / Netherlands. In 2011 Merks signed the memorandum Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening .
