Trinational Atomic Protection Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tri-national atomic Protection Association (TRAS), French L'Association trinational de protection de la population of alentours de Fessenheim (ATPN) is in June 2005 by organizations and communities in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland ( Dreyeckland established) association of people around the French nuclear power plant around Fessenheim . He has set himself the goal of having the reactors of the Fessenheim nuclear power plant shut down by legal means .

activities

The Parisian lawyer Corinne Lepage (former French Environment Minister) commissioned by TRAS succeeded in forcing the disclosure of security-relevant documents that the owner and operator, the French energy company Électricité de France (EdF), had kept under lock and key for years.

Members of the TRAS repeatedly give lectures to educate and raise awareness of the local population and their political representatives.

In March 2011, the Strasbourg Administrative Court published the judgment in the trial initiated by TRAS. It rejects the TRAS lawsuit and its demand for the nuclear power plant to be shut down.

The TRAS initially replied: Nevertheless, the court found TRAS to be right on one essential point. The Fessenheim nuclear power plant does not have the right permits for water emissions. The operation is therefore illegal.

On March 21, the TRAS decided unanimously to appeal the judgment.

The competent court of appeal is the French administrative court in Nancy ; the next instance is the French Conseil d'État (d for example: Council of State ).

In December 2012, TRAS and Greenpeace filed a criminal complaint against the Gösgen and Leibstadt nuclear power plants for forging documents. According to TRAS, a total of over 1.8 billion francs are capitalized in the balance sheets of these works, which are of no value. The public prosecutor's offices in the cantons of Aargau and Solothurn then initiated criminal proceedings.

Members

The association has around 230 members (January 2011): in addition to more than 100 individuals from Germany, France and Switzerland, there are 69 cities or municipalities (e.g. the cities of Freiburg and Basel ), 40 organizations and 11 church institutions. The President of TRAS is Jürg Stöcklin , the Vice Presidium is shared by Rudolf Rechsteiner , Axel Mayer, Claude Ledergerber and Madeleine Göschke-Chiquet.

In the aftermath of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in March 2011, more and more new communities in southern Baden joined the TRAS or their demands. In some cases, they supplemented this with the demand for the decommissioning of the Swiss nuclear power plants on the Upper Rhine , Beznau and Leibstadt .
