Karl von Frisch high school graduate award

The Karl von Frisch High School Graduate Award of the Association of Biology, Biosciences & Biomedicine in Germany (VBIO) has been awarded since 1993 for outstanding high school graduation achievements in the subject of biology and is awarded annually by the individual regional associations of the VBIO to high school graduates with the best annual performance . It was named after the German Nobel Prize winner Karl von Frisch .

criteria

The prize is awarded to secondary school students with very good grades in biology . The basic requirement is that at least 14.0 grade points have been achieved in the four basic or advanced courses as well as the written Abitur examination or the BELL in biology . The student's proposal is made by the school management or the senior level advisor.

In addition to a certificate, the award winners receive book and material prizes and become non-contributory members of the VBIO for one year.

The prize is advertised in the German federal states of Baden-Württemberg , Bavaria , Berlin , Hesse , North Rhine-Westphalia , Lower Saxony , Thuringia , Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt and awarded in varying numbers each year. The education ministries of these countries play a key role in the award.

  • Hessen: a maximum of 30 students
  • Saxony: 25 students

Berlin-Brandenburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia decide on the number of award winners.

In Rhineland-Palatinate, one prize winner is awarded per high school.
