Karl Adolph Kellers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Adolph Kellers († 1762 in Rudolstadt ) was a wood sculptor and court sculptor in Rudolstadt. He belongs to the Saxon artist family of the same name and was a brother of Johann Joachim Kändler (1706–1775), who had worked as a model master at the porcelain factory in Meißen since 1731.

His main place of work was the residential palace Heidecksburg in Rudolstadt. Probably the most important student from his workshop was the later Weimar court sculptor Martin Gottlieb Klauer , who already assisted him as an apprentice in the design of the Heidecksburg. The latter later made a name for himself as a sculptor of the Weimar Classic and as a teacher at the Princely Free Drawing School . In the palace, Kellers created carvings in the Red Corner Cabinet and carvings in the Red Hall. Artistically it can be assigned to the late baroque . Today it is almost completely forgotten.
