Karl Alexander Herklots
Karl Alexander Herklots (born January 19, 1759 in Dulzen , a village near Preussisch Eylau ; † March 23, 1830 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer who was mainly known as a theater poet.
After studying law and completing a legal clerkship in Königsberg , Herklots found a job at the Berlin Court of Justice in 1790 . For the court theater in Berlin he made a number of translations from French and Italian, including Die Vestalin by Gaspare Spontini , Alceste by Christoph Willibald Gluck and Juliette and Romeo by Niccolò Antonio Zingarelli . In addition, he also produced numerous pieces of his own for the theater, as well as prologues and other poems.
