Karl Becker (lawyer, 1875)

Karl Becker (born July 5, 1875 in Kirchherten ; † after 1942) was a German lawyer . He was president of the Senate of the Cologne Higher Regional Court .

Life

He was the son of a mayor. After attending grammar school in Düren , Karl Becker studied at the universities of Geneva, Munich and Bonn. In 1899 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. In 1905 he became a research assistant and in 1907 a district judge in Düsseldorf . In the First World War he took part as a captain in the artillery.

In 1917, Karl Becker was appointed a secret councilor and lecturer in the Prussian Ministry of Justice. In 1921 he was appointed president of the district court in Cleve. In 1928 Karl Becker moved to Cologne as President of the Senate and Chairman of the Legal Examination Office. After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1934 he was appointed honorary professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Cologne . In 1942 Karl Becker retired.
