Karl Bohnenstengel (born March 4, 1890 in Landsberg an der Warthe , † July 17, 1965 in East Berlin ) was a German politician (KPD).

Live and act

Bohnenstengel attended elementary school in Landsberg. After leaving school in 1904, Bohnstengel, who had been a member of the trade union since 1909 and had been politically organized since 1912, worked in various professions until the outbreak of the First World War. After serving in the military from 1910 to 1912, Bohnstengel was reactivated as a medical sergeant in 1914 and took part in the First World War until 1918 . From 1919 to 1924 he was district leader in the German Agricultural Workers' Association . He then earned his living as a construction worker until 1930.

After the war, Bohnstengel began to be more politically active. He joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), for which he was a city councilor in Landsberg from 1919 to 1930. In 1929 he became a member of the Provincial Assembly. In September 1930 Bohnstengel was finally elected to the Reichstag for constituency 5 (Frankfurt an der Oder), to which he belonged until July 1932. After 1945 he lived in the Soviet occupation zone or in the German Democratic Republic .
