Karl Düffke

Karl Düffke ( September 3, 1816 in Parchim - February 17, 1880 in Hanover ) was a German opera singer ( bass ) and theater actor .

Life

His career began in 1837 as a choir singer at the Hamburg City Theater. From 1842 to 1845 he was engaged at the Rostock City Theater, from 1845 to 1847 at the Königsberg Theater, from 1847 to 1848 a member of the Bremen City Theater, from 1848 to 1850 at the City Theater of Danzig and from 1850 to 1851 at the City Theater of Stettin. In 1851 he moved to the Friedrich Wilhelmstädtische Theater Berlin and in 1853 to the royal court theater.

Düffke was not only at home in the opera, but also in drama and farce. He was also the first “Doctor Hippe” in Good Morning, Mr. Fischer . He did outstanding work in Dittersdorf's operas Doctor and Pharmacist and Hieronymus Knicker . For a long time he was a darling of the Berlin theater audience. His achievements at the court theater in Hanover, in whose association he joined in 1860 and remained until his death, were valued no less.
