Karl Daniel (born February 22, 1905 in Jünkerath , Daun district , Eifel ; † July 31, 1977 in Cologne-Porz ) was a German entrepreneur.

Life

Daniel studied mechanical engineering and electrical engineering at the Polytechnikum Friedberg, today's Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, Campus Friedberg . He later received his doctorate as Dr. rer. pole. In the 1930s, he worked on the development of a telephone - answering machine , which, however, because of the restrictive admission policy of the Reich Post did not sell. The brand name "Tefi" comes from this; "Te" stands for telephone, "Fi" for film. In 1936 Karl Daniel founded Tefi-Apparatebau Dr. Daniel KG . In the same year he showed his endless record at an exhibition . From 1946 to 1949 he manufactured detector receivers and radios in the Porz plant .

1951 began the triumph of the Tefifon devices. The devices were not marketed in general specialist shops, but via special sales agencies in direct sales. In 1954, Tefi merged with the Heinz Kisters company , which had previously also had direct sales. The merger resulted in more than 100 sales outlets. Girls were also trained in radio and television technicians at the Tefifon company . In 1957, Karl Daniel left the company. In 1976 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
