Karl Enslein

Karl Enslein (born June 4, 1849 in Vienna ; † July 29, 1907 there ) was an Austrian musician and composer .

Enslein first learned the violin , then a wind instrument , in order to be accepted into the military band. After studying the piano and harmony , he finally switched to playing the zither , which he perfected to the point of virtuosity . In addition to appearances at court, the “princely Auerspergian chamber virtuoso” also gave concerts in the Vienna Musikverein .

In addition to numerous transcriptions for his instrument, the artist composed more than 300 pieces. He passed on his knowledge as a teacher of zither and composition.

For his services he was awarded the Gold Medal awarded to him Emperor Franz Joseph I gave.

It rests in the Evangelical Cemetery of the Vienna Central Cemetery (I, 342).
