Karl Feldmann

Karl Feldmann (born August 20, 1892 in Rendsburg , † April 13, 1963 ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

As the son of a farm laborer, Feldmann had to work on the farm himself since he was eleven. After completing elementary school , he completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator at Carlshütte in Rendsburg. In 1910 he joined the German Metalworkers' Association . In 1912 he became a soldier and from 1914 took part in the First World War, in which he was taken prisoner by the British in 1917, from which he was only released in 1919. Then he worked again as a lathe operator and foreman in Rendsburg. From 1920 to 1933 he was chairman of the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association in Kiel. After the seizure of power of the Nazis , he was imprisoned several times for a total of five months. After all, he worked as a lathe operator in Kiel until 1945 .

In December 1945, the British occupying power set Feldmann as an asset manager for sport. Feldmann had been married since 1917 and had five sons, three of whom died in World War II . According to him, that is Karl Feldmann Street in Neumünster single field named.

Political party

Feldmann joined the SPD as early as 1910 and was a co-founder of the Socialist Workers' Youth in Rendsburg. From 1930 until the ban in 1933, he was the secretary of the Reichsbanner Schwarz-Rot-Gold in Schleswig-Holstein. From 1945 to 1947 he was chairman of the local SPD association in Einfeld and from 1949 to 1951 chairman of the SPD in the Rendsburg district .

MP

From 1928 to 1930 Feldmann was a city councilor in Rendsburg. He belonged to the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament in its first legislative period (1947–1950). There he represented the constituency of Rendsburg-Süd and was chairman of the state parliament's health committee.

Public offices

From 1946 on, Feldmann was mayor of Einfeld.
