Karl Friedrich von Beneckendorff

Karl Friedrich Freiherr von Beneckendorff (* 1713 in Blumenfelde (Neumark) in the Friedeberg district ; † 1788 there ) was a Prussian lawyer, political economist and agricultural scientist .

Life

Beneckendorff studied law in Halle an der Saale . In 1735 he was appointed to the chamber judge in Berlin . In 1742 Frederick II appointed him President of the Oberamtsregierung in Breslau . In 1751 he took his dismissal because he disapproved of the Prussian judicial reforms (1749 under Samuel von Cocceji ) and retired to his estate in Blumenfelde. There he devoted himself to agricultural science and wrote some books.

Beneckendorff wrote numerous agricultural and economic works, including:

  • Berlin contributions to agriculture science, 1771–85, 2nd ed. 1789;
  • Oeconomia forensis , 8 vols. 1775-84;
  • The farmer during and after the war , 1779;
  • Reliable news of important country and economic news , 3 vols. 1781–84;
  • Treatise of the Doctrine of Correct Fertilization of Fields , 1784;
  • Small economic writings , 2 Thle., 1784–86;
  • Economic and legal treatise on sheep farming justice , 1785;
  • Secrets of nature for the economic farmer, 3 vols. 1786–87;
  • Oeconomia controversa , 2 vols., 1787-88;
  • Treatise on the important advantages of the new credit facility in the Mark Brandenburg .
