Karl Guhl

Karl Guhl (born July 17, 1920 in Oberndorf am Neckar ; † August 16, 2008 in Reutlingen ?) Was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After training for the higher administrative service in Oberndorf , Horb and Haigerloch , he worked in the city administration of Reutlingen from 1950 , where Lord Mayor Oskar Kalbfell was one of his sponsors.

From 1955 on, Guhl was managing director of the municipal housing company GWG in Reutlingen. During his term of office the conception and construction of the large housing estate Orschel-Hagen in the north of Reutlingen fell. Guhl himself moved to this district and lived there until his death. In 1968 he was elected First Mayor of the City of Reutlingen and held this office until 1984. During his tenure, he drove the expansion of the city area through incorporations. Between 1968 and 1974 he pushed through the shutdown of the Reutlingen tram in favor of omnibus traffic .

From 1980 to 1984 he belonged for a term of the parliament of Baden-Wuerttemberg to where it via a second mandate to 60 (Reutlingen) constituency represented. In addition, Guhl was temporarily a member of the district council in the Reutlingen district and the association assembly of the Neckar-Alb region .
