(Otto) Karl Henkel (born June 2, 1883 in Erfurt , † after 1949) was a German instrument maker and conductor .

biography

Karl Henkel initially worked as a bookbinder, later as a machine master. On June 23, 1904, he married Alma Greiner (born April 30, 1882 in Sonneberg ), with whom he had two children. From March 1924, Karl Henkel lived and worked independently in Waltershausen , Thuringia . In 1930 he ran the musical instruments and music store -Henkel at Bahnhofstrasse 32 in Waltershausen and lived in Ob. Bornpforte 48. On January 2, 1935, he moved to Rheydt . There he ran an instrument shop at Hauptstrasse 5. On August 10, 1943, he and his wife Alma moved to Marstallstrasse 3 in Erfurt. The registration in Erfurt took place on March 18, 1943. Their son Georg (druggist) married in Rheydt and died on June 12, 1942 without children. In the address books of the city of Erfurt in 1948: Karl Henkel, violin maker, Marstallstrasse 3 (shop); Alma Henkel, Langer Graben 73 (residential building). Karl Henkel was run as a reindeer on Marstallstrasse in 1950. After that there is no more entry.

His trumpets are marked as made by K. Henkel Waltershausen or Karl Henkel instrument maker Rheydt . It remains to be seen whether the trumpets were only traded, since he was listed as a violin maker in 1948, or whether he learned to be a brass instrument maker (machine master) at the Eduard Kruspe company in Erfurt because of the similarity of the instruments before he went into business for himself.
