Karl Herbst (Author)

Karl Herbst (born September 20, 1916 ; † May 17, 2004 in Düsseldorf ) was a German Catholic book author.

Life

After studying theology at the Papal Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo and the University of Würzburg, Herbst worked as a pastor in the GDR from 1949 to 1971 . In 1958 he created an “ecumenical circle of letters” in the GDR with the Protestant pastor Günter Loske , from which his book Beyond All Claims emerged . Herbst lived in Düsseldorf from 1978 until his death. He was buried in Leipzig, in the grave of the Leipzig Oratorians , on May 21st.
