South Tyrolean farmers' organization

The South Tyrolean Farmers 'Organization (SBO) is a sub-organization of the South Tyrolean Farmers' Union, founded in 1981 and based in Bolzano in the province of South Tyrol , Italy . According to its own information, it is the largest women's organization in South Tyrol with over 16,700 members, 152 active local groups and over 1000 functionaries (as of June 2020).

history

The aim of the organization is to promote, support and represent the interests of women and men in the farming environment, especially in economic, cultural and social terms, and to represent them to third parties.

In the “From our hand” program, the organization offers product presentations, catering (buffets) and courses on cooking, baking, handicrafts, decoration, culture and nature.

The social cooperative "Learn - grow - live with women farmers", founded in 2006 by the South Tyrolean farmers' organization, offers child and senior care on the farm.

In addition, “School on the Farm” and, since 2009, voluntary life counseling for farming families are part of the farmers' organization.

Social agriculture

The South Tyrolean farmers' organization works with network partners in the field of social agriculture .

Social agriculture is not new in South Tyrol: there are already offers in the educational area. In 2006 the South Tyrolean farmers' organization set an important milestone with the establishment of the social cooperative learning - growing - living with women farmers. She has been offering childcare since 2007 and senior care since 2014. There has been a school on the farm since 2006, and in the same year the service portal of the South Tyrolean farmers' organization was founded, the aim of which is to impart knowledge and raise awareness, for example as farmer ambassadors, farmer consultants or as farm and garden guides.

Life advice for the rural family

In 2009, the SBO founded the "Life counseling for the rural family". School on the farm

In this way, the students get to know the rural world of work, experience and understand the value of food. Children can taste the farm's own products when visiting the farm.
