Karl Honisch

Karl Honisch (born November 14, 1893 in Karwin ; † February 3, 1959 ) was a German trade unionist . He was chairman of the central board of the mining industry union in the FDGB .

Life

Honisch attended elementary school and then worked as a miner in Silesia. In 1913 he joined the miners' association and the SPD . In 1914 he was drafted as a soldier. In 1918/19 he became a member of the KPD . In the 1920s he was active as a party and trade union official in Waldenburg , Silesia . Honisch was, among other things, chairman of the works council of the “ Fuchsgrube ” of the Waldenburg coal field. In 1931 he was reprimanded, then he worked as a treasurer for the KPD district leadership in Silesia.

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists , Honisch took part in the communist resistance . He was arrested in March 1933 and remained in " protective custody " until September of the same year . After his release, he worked as a miner again and headed an illegal resistance group in Waldenburg.

In 1945/46 Honisch was the official German representative in the denazification committee in Waldenburg. In July 1946 he moved to the Soviet Zone and became a member of the SED there . From 1947 he was a member of the central board (ZV) of IG Bergbau and liaison secretary at the FDGB federal board. From 1951 to 1954 Honisch acted as chairman of the ZV of IG Bergbau. Between 1952 and 1955 he was also a member of the presidium of the FDGB federal executive committee, later he was temporarily personal advisor to Herbert Warnke to the executive committee of the FDGB federal executive committee and head of the international relations department in the FDGB federal executive committee.
