Karl Iagnemma

Karl Iagnemma (born October 19, 1972 in Shelby Township, Detroit ) is an American robotist and writer .

He was born and raised in Shelby Township, a suburb of Detroit . Iagnemma studied mechanical engineering at the University of Detroit, then completed a doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . Iagnemma is the author of numerous publications in the field of robotics.

In addition to his research, Karl Iagnemma is known for his short stories, which deal with the interpersonal romantic interaction.

His short stories received awards such as the Pushcart Prize , Paris Review Plimpton Prize , first prize in the Playboy College Fiction Contest , and were funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and Massachusetts Cultural Council. His stories have appeared in Tin House , SEED , One Story , Zoetrope , and in the compilations Best American Short Stories and Best American Erotica .

His first book On the Nature of Human Romantic Interaction contains a collection of eight short stories in which the protagonists always have to choose between their feelings and their reasoning.
