Karl Irsa

Karl Irsa (born November 1, 1886 in Seibersdorf , Lower Austria; † October 3, 1942 in Vienna ) was an Austrian farmer and politician .

Life

The son of a gardener studied in Vienna at the university and at the agricultural college and first became a middle school teacher and head of a student hostel. After participating in World War I , he bought a farm in Geretsberg and became a farmer and innkeeper. In 1920 he ran as the top candidate of the Innviertel for the Christian Social Party and was elected to the National Council ( 1st and 2nd legislative period ). Because he was criticized for his frequent absence, he resigned on May 27, 1926.

Irsa became forest director at Graf Lodron in Gmünd in Carinthia ; after his death he took over the count's property. From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the Karaen State Farmers Council and from October 1937 to March 1938 President of the Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture . His son Peter emigrated to England and took the name Lowry.
