Karl Jelinek (resistance fighter)

Karl Jelinek ( September 10, 1896 in Vienna - November 19, 1943 there ) was an Austrian iron turner and resistance fighter against the Nazi regime . He was sentenced to death by the Nazi judiciary and beheaded in the Vienna Regional Court .

Life

Jelinek was an iron turner at the Simmering gas works and an official of the KPÖ . He was arrested on February 3, 1943, sentenced to death by the People's Court on October 1 of the same year for “preparation for high treason ” and executed on November 19.

Commemoration

His name can be found on the plaque in the former execution room of the Vienna Regional Court .
