Karl Kämpf (composer)

Karl Kämpf (born August 31, 1874 in Berlin , † November 4, 1950 in Mönchengladbach ) was a German composer .

Life

He was born into a wealthy merchant family. First he did an apprenticeship as a fur trader and composed on the side. He was trained on the piano under Alfred Sormann, Sally Liebling and Friedrich E. Koch and gave several piano concerts. In 1895 he had a hemorrhage and then went to Italy to recover. In 1907 he became a member of the Berlin Masonic Lodge Zum Widder .

On March 11, 1916, he gave a melodramatic lecture evening (spoken songs) on the harmonium together with Ferdinand Hummel on the piano and the singer Alice Fliegel "To the best of the mother and children's home - the Federation for Mothers' Protection ". He composed for the harmonium and also worked as a song composer.
