Karl Kaser (born May 12, 1861 in Tischnowitz ( Moravia ), † June 19, 1942 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lawyer and photographer.

The son of a notary completed a law degree at the University of Vienna and shortly afterwards founded his own law firm. Above all, however, he was an avid photographer. His life's work includes more than 12,000 photos, mainly Austrian motifs, in the form of glass slides and negatives. Of his approximately 12,000 recordings, however, over 3,000 are now considered to have disappeared without a trace.

Kaser's photographic activities unfolded between 1898 and 1939, with a high point around the turn of the century. At that time he developed an extensive activity as a semi-professional photographer, published photos in magazines and gave relevant lectures. Kaser devoted himself to both landscape and people photography. After Kaser's death, his archive was moved to an attic, where it remained until 2002. About 9000 photographs have been preserved. Kaser's grandson, Hermann Kaser, and his wife Hildegund have since endeavored to preserve and restore Kaser's estate. To date, 17 exhibitions have been dedicated to Kaser's work, and his work is documented in ten illustrated books.
