Karl Klanert

Karl Klanert (born November 23, 1873 in Thale , † 1941 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German music teacher , pianist , composer and oratorio singer .

Life

Karl Klanert was born in Thale in 1873 . From 1891 to 1894 he attended the music teacher seminar and the preparatory institute in Halberstadt and in 1896 got his first job as a music teacher in Gommern . Two years later he switched to the provincial blind institution in Halle (Saale) as a music teacher and studied piano , composition and singing at the Leipzig Conservatory .

In 1900 he was appointed cantor of the Marktkirche Unser Lieben Frauen and choir director of the Stadtsingechor zu Halle in the Francke Foundations . From then on he also worked there as a music teacher.

As a pianist , Karl Klanert mainly appeared in concert life in Halle, often with his own compositions. He founded the concert series Musical Vespers at the Marktkirche Unser Lieben Frauen Halle . Karl Klanert composed numerous choral music and songs, including some for the city choir. He directed the third oldest boys' choir in Germany until 1939 and shaped it significantly for almost forty years.
