Karl Matthias Schmidt

Karl Matthias Schmidt (* 1970 ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and New Testament scholar.

Life

After a bank apprenticeship, he studied theology and German in Frankfurt am Main and Tübingen . After the dissertation in 2003 in Munich and the Habilitation in 2009 in Friborg , he has taught since 2011 as Professor of Sacred Scripture with a focus on New Testament exegesis at the University of Giessen .

His research and interests are early Christian short stories (especially the Gospel of Mark and Acts of the Apostles) and pseudepigraphy in the New Testament.
