Karl Peter Brendel (born January 23, 1955 in Niedermarsberg ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

Karl Peter Brendel passed his Abitur in 1974 at the Christian-Rauch-Gymnasium in Arolsen. From 1975 to 1981 he studied law at the Ruhr University Bochum and successfully completed his studies with the first state examination in law. This was followed by a traineeship at the Paderborn Regional Court and at the University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. In 1984 he passed the second state examination in law.

From July 1984 to June 2005 Brendel worked as a lawyer in his own law firm in Marsberg. He was also a notary from February 2000 to June 2005.

Karl Peter Brendel is married and has two children.

Political party

Brendel joined the FDP in 1972. He chaired the FDP district association Hochsauerland from 1986 to 1992. From 1992 to 2010 he was deputy chairman of the FDP district association Westphalia-South. From 2005 to 2010 he was a co-opted member of the state executive committee of the FDP NRW .

MP

Brendel was from 1989 to 1994 and again from 1999 to 2005 chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the district assembly of the Hochsauerlandkreis. From 1999 to 2005 he was also a member of the Marsberg City Council. In 2000 he entered the 13th state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , to which he belonged until 2005. There he was building policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group.

Public offices

From June 2005 to July 2010 he was State Secretary in the Interior Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia, led by Ingo Wolf (FDP). He has been a member of the board of the NRW Foundation since 2018. He is the honorary federal manager of the Association of Liberal Local Politicians.
