Karl Sandmeier

Karl Sandmeier (born February 5, 1917 in Aschach an der Donau , † January 2, 2000 in Wels ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and tax officer. From 1966 to 1983 he was a member of the National Council .

Life

After primary school in Aschach an der Donau, Sandmeier attended the humanistic grammar school in Hall in Tirol and passed the Matura in 1936. From 1945 he worked as a tax officer and most recently as an official director in the Gmunden tax office. Sandmeier was married and the father of two children.

Sandmeier began his political career in 1961 when he was elected to the city council in Gmunden. Sandmeier held this office until 1973 and then took over the office of mayor of Gmunden between 1973 and 1984 . On March 30, 1966, Sandmeier was sworn in as a member of the National Council, where he subsequently assumed the role of deputy chairman of the finance and budget committee until he left. On May 18, 1983, he resigned from the National Council. During his membership in the National Council, Sandmeier was ÖVP district chairman of Gmunden , district chairman of the Christian trade union group and district chairman of the ÖAAB between 1966 and 1983 .
