Karl Schoeppe

Karl Schöppe (born November 7, 1880 in Aussig ; † May 16, 1939 there ) was a German politician. He held the office of Lord Mayor of Aussig and Chairman of the German National Party (DnP) in Czechoslovakia .

Life

Schöppe, the son of a Bohemian member of the state parliament, attended high school in Leitmeritz and passed his Matura in 1899. He studied law in Prague and completed his studies in 1904 with a doctorate . As a student he became a member of the Teutonia Prague fraternity in 1899 . He last experienced the First World War as captain of the reserve .

In 1918 he opened a law firm in Aussig together with Walter Maresch. In 1919 he was elected for the first time for the DnP in the city council of Aussig. From 1919 to 1923 he held the office of deputy mayor. From 1923 to 1931 he was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Aussig. In 1929 he took over the office of chairman of the German National Party from Heinrich Brunar. He kept it until the party dissolved itself on October 3, 1933. After that, he was hardly active in politics and in 1934 resigned from the Aussig city council.
