Karl Schantz

Karl Schantz (born April 13, 1863 in Witten , † April 27, 1936 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ) was mining captain of the Dortmund Oberbergamt .

Life

Before Karl Schantz began studying in Berlin and Clausthal , he did his military service as a one-year volunteer with the 2nd Guard Fusilier Regiment . After the two state examinations, he took up a job in the Oberbergamtsviertel Dortmund and got to know Belgian and English mining districts on a study trip. In 1895 he found a job as a mining inspector at the Camphausen Mining Inspectorate, was a member of the Saarbrücken Mining Administration in 1900 and became director of the Camphausen Mining Inspection the following year. As Oberbergrat he came to the Dortmund Oberbergamt in 1907, where he was head of the Westphalian State Mining Department. In 1914 he had to do military service with the 2nd Guard Fusilier Regiment . He was last major in the reserve in the War Office. He returned to the profession he had learned and became a secret mountain in 1917. On November 19, 1919, he took the position of miner captain in Dortmund, was promoted to chief miner in May 1923 and came to the Prussian Ministry of Trade and Industry as ministerial director . He remained in this position until his retirement on October 1, 1928.
