Karl Schneider (politician, 1918)

Karl Schneider (born January 30, 1918 in Bruck an der Leitha ; † October 9, 2003 in Baden ) was an Austrian businessman and politician ( ÖVP ). Schneider was a member of the Lower Austrian regional parliament and from 1969 to 1980 a regional councilor in the Lower Austrian regional government .

Schneider graduated from the commercial academy in Vienna and did his military service between 1938 and 1945, where he was taken prisoner by the Americans. In 1948 he took over his father's business. He then traded professionally in iron and fuel. He was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor.

Schneider was a member of the commercial vocational school council from 1957 and was elected chairman of the trade section in 1960. Between 1960 and 1978 he was a city councilor and held various chamber functions. Schneider was Vice President of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce in 1965 and held the office of ÖVP district party chairman between 1970 and 1977. In 1972 he was also the regional group chairman of the ÖVP Economic Association. Schneider represented the ÖVP from December 7, 1961 to November 24, 1969 in the Lower Austrian state parliament and between November 20, 1969 and October 2, 1980 held the office of a regional councilor in the Lower Austrian state government.
