Karl Schrauf

Karl Schrauf (born January 11, 1835 in Wieden (then Lower Austria , now Vienna ), † October 9, 1904 ) was an Austrian archivist who was in charge of the Vienna University Archives .

Live and act

Karl Schrauf studied theology in Vienna and was ordained a priest in 1860 . After further philological and historical studies, he became an archivist. In 1875 he became the first full-time professional archivist at the university archives. In 1895 he was officially appointed head of the Vienna University Archives. He collected and preserved old stocks. He published important university files, such as the Acta facultatis medicae .
