From 1981 to 1992 Senne moderated the current sport studio as well as the Telemotor program and some issues of Pfiff , the “sports studio for young people” on ZDF . Senne was also the long-time head of sports at ZDF and played a key role in the negotiations on the public broadcasts for numerous major sports events. In 1991, in his role as head of sports at ZDF, he sent the later permanent presenter and former swimmer Kristin Otto to Australia as a co-commentator for the World Swimming Championships.

After leaving the current sport studio in 1992, Senne was supposed to continue his show The Grand Prize on ZDF, according to Wim Thoelke's will (ex-presenter of the sport studio) . Other opinions within the TV company, however, led to the fact that the two candidates Thoelkes (besides Senne also Kurt Felix ) were rejected by the program management and it was decided in favor of Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff as Thoelke's successor. Senne turned her back on the television landscape and has worked behind the scenes ever since. He is considered a proven expert on the national and international motorsport scene and an expert in media and TV law as well as sports entertainment.

His son Stefan is a passionate glider pilot and glider pilot who achieved a record flight in 2011. He is married to Katrin Senne, who was twice world champion in gliding for women (2007 in the 15 m class and 2017 in the 18 m class).
