Karl Spielbüchler (politician)

Karl Spielbüchler (born June 22, 1911 in Gosau , † September 26, 1992 in Linz ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and forest worker. From 1945 to 1949 and from 1953 to 1971 he was a member of the National Council and from 1949 to 1953 a member of the Federal Council .

Spielbüchler attended a further education school after elementary school and worked professionally as a forest worker. From 1929 to 1934 he was district chairman of the Socialist Workers' Youth and from 1930 to 1934 he also held the function of chairman of the Social Democrats in Gosau. After the Social Democratic Party was banned, he was imprisoned several times for political reasons between 1934 and 1938. After the Second World War he took over the office of mayor of Gosau in 1945, and he was also active within the party as an SPÖ functionary at the district and state level. Spielbüchler represented the SPÖ between December 19, 1945 and November 8, 1949 in the National Council, after which he was a member of the Federal Council from November 8, 1949 to March 18, 1953. Spielbüchler then represented the SPÖ again from March 18, 1953 to November 4, 1971 in the National Council. Spielbüchler held his office as mayor of Gosau until 1976.
