Karl Stettler-von Rodt
Karl Stettler-von Rodt (born August 20, 1802 in Bern ; † December 30, 1870 there ) was chairman of the Evangelical Society in Bern for many years .
As a patrician from Bern , he had sought a career as a civil servant during the restoration period . However, his plans were thwarted by the political upheavals in the wake of the July Revolution of 1830. After the nobility was finally ousted with the constitution adopted on July 31, 1831 and the liberal regeneration period began in the canton of Bern , they devoted all their energy to the Evangelical Society founded on September 3, 1831.
Karl Stettler-von Rodt should not be confused with his brother-in-law Karl von Rodt (1805–1861), the founder of the Free Evangelical Congregation in Bern.
