Karl Vautier

Karl Joseph Benjamin Vautier , also Carl Vautier (* 1860 in Düsseldorf ; † after 1910), was a German-Swiss portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Vautier was the eldest of three sons of the famous genre painter Benjamin Vautier from his marriage to Bertha, née Euler, a daughter of the politician Joseph Euler . Like his brother Otto , he became a painter. For this purpose he studied painting in Paris . There he took part in important exhibitions, especially at the Salon de Paris, with portraits, most of which he executed as pastel paintings . At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900 , in which his brother Otto also took part and won a bronze medal, he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor . Around 1901 he had Swiss citizenship.
