Karl Veltman

Karl Franz Gustav Maria Veltman (also Veltmann) (born June 9, 1833 in Rheine ; † June 21, 1911 ) was a German judge.

Life

The Catholic Veltman was the son of a businessman and studied law in Bonn and Heidelberg. In 1852 he became a member of the Corps Teutonia Bonn. In 1854 he was sworn in to the King of Prussia . It was not until 1866 that he was appointed city judge. In Berlin he held the office in 1868. In 1871 he became a city judge, in 1878 a chamber judge and in 1879 a district court director. In 1887 he came to the Imperial Court . He worked as a judge in the 4th Civil Senate . He retired in 1910 at the age of 77. He was thus one of the longest-serving judges of the Imperial Court. The Reich judge Gerhart Veltman (1871-1945) was his son.
