Karl Zörkendörfer

Karl Anton Zörkendörfer (born May 22, 1864 in Marienbad , Bohemia ; † February 13, 1945 there ) was a professor of medicine at the University in Prague and head of the balneological institute in Marienbad.

Life

He was the son of Anton Zörkendöfer and father of Walter Zörkendörfer , studied medicine in Prague and was a member of the Teutonia Prague fraternity there in 1888 , after becoming a member of the Albia academic fraternity in Vienna in 1883 . After successfully completing his studies, he received his habilitation and taught balneology as a medical advisor. In Marienbad the hygienic and balneological institute, which he headed, bore his name. After the Germans fled and were expelled from Bohemia and Moravia, the institute was renamed the Balneological Research Institute Marienbad. He was awarded the Goethe Medal for Art and Science for his medical knowledge .
