Karlheinz Thimm

Karlheinz Thimm (* 1954 in Glücksburg ) is a German social worker living in Berlin and was Professor of Social Work at the Evangelical University of Berlin from 2005 to the end of 2018.

Life

Thimm studied German and political science in Kiel and Berlin from 1972 to 1977, then from 1981 to 1984 educational sciences with a focus on social education at the Free University of Berlin. In 2000 he did his doctorate at the Technical University of Berlin with Manfred Kappeler on the subject of school refusal. To establish a new relationship between social education and school .

In the 1980s Thimm worked in drug therapy in a juvenile detention center, in family support and as an adult education center lecturer. He completed his legal clerkship at a grammar school. Then he worked in a school day nursery and in supervised youth living. In the 1990s he carried out scientific support and project development for a youth welfare organization in Brandenburg.

In 1994 Thimm founded the school refusal project School of Life . In 1998 he became head of the state cooperation center for schools and youth welfare in Potsdam; from 2000 he set up the cooperation center Kobra.net . In 2016 he set up the quality agency Erziehungshilfe . Karlheinz Thimm has been a professor at the Evangelical University of Berlin since 2005 . He has been retired since 2019. Thimm is a systemic supervisor and Gestalt therapist. He had lectureships at the Free University of Berlin, the Technical University of Berlin and at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin. His main research interests are school distance and education aids .
