The Karm is an island about 1.5 km southeast of Shaula Island in the southern part of the Øygarden archipelago off the coast of the East Antarctic Kemplands .
Norwegian cartographers recorded it using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen Expedition in 1936/37 . The first landing was made in 1954 by the team around the Australian geodesist Robert George Dovers (1921-1981) as part of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Norwegian Karm stands for a device on ships that prevents water from entering.
