Karomama II.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karomama II (also Karoma ) was an ancient Egyptian queen and the wife of Osorkon II (ruled from 881/880 BC to 852/851 BC), who was one of the most important rulers of the 22nd dynasty . Karomama is best known for depictions from the Bastet Temple in Bubastis , on which her husband built. Here she is mostly shown behind Osorkon II. Among other things, she carried the title of King Wife and King's Daughter . She was the mother of the high priest of Amun , Hornacht, and the high priest of Ptah in Memphis , Scheschonq. In the latter, untouched grave, she is mentioned several times. On the cuboid statue (Brooklyn 37.595 E), which was probably reworked for the high priest Hornacht (B), who died young, she is shown alone and identified by her cartouche. With Osorkon II she also had three daughters, Taschacheper, Karoma and [Ta?] Iirmer.
