The Karoro Pond is a 1.3km pools in the Asgard Range of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It lies in the middle of the rocky watershed between the Matterhorn and Rhone glaciers .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named it in 1998 after the Maori name for the Dominican gull .
