Karsten Finger

Karsten Finger (born January 28, 1970 in Berlin ) is a former German rower . In 1992 he won the silver medal in the four with helmsman at the Olympic Games .

Finger started for the Berlin rowing club . In 1987 he was fourth in the Junior World Championships in two with helmsman , in 1988 he finished fifth. In 1992, coach Bernd Landvoigt formed a four-man helmsman with rowers from three Berlin clubs and one Potsdam club. Karsten Finger, Thoralf Peters , Ralf Brudel and Uwe Kellner were driven by Hendrik Reiher , who had already become Olympic champion with the GDR four in 1988. The newly assembled four-man won the German championship in 1992. At the 1992 Olympic Games , the boat won the silver medal one second behind the Romanian four-man. In 1993, Finger, together with Bernd Eichwurzel and helmsman Jörn Lamprecht, took second place at the German championship in two with helmsman, and in 1994 he came third with Ulrich Britting and Olaf Kaska.

For winning the silver medal in 1992, he received the silver laurel leaf on June 23, 1993 .
