Kartografov Island ( Russian Остров Картографова Ostrow Kartografowa , German ' Kartographeninsel ' ) is a small island off the Oates coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located in the western section of the entrance to Harald Bay .
Aerial photographs were taken during the US Operation Highjump (1946–1947), during the Second Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1956–1958) and in 1959 during one of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . Participants in the Soviet expedition named them. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this into English in 1970.
