The Kazan Ansat-2RZ ( Russian Казанский Ансат-2РЦ ) is a light attack helicopter made by the Russian manufacturer Kazan Helicopters . It is based on the Kazan Ansat .

The Kazan Ansat-2RZ can be used for exploration, for carrying out reconnaissance missions, for supporting field artillery by determining target coordinates. He can also support ground forces independently with his firepower. In concept, it is similar to the US armed reconnaissance helicopter OH-58D Kiowa Warrior . Before that, there was no specialized helicopter in Russia for this role.

history

The development of the helicopter began in 1997 as a reconnaissance helicopter based on the civilian Ansat , with which it shares 90% of the assemblies. A mock-up of this was presented in early 2005 under the name Ansat-2. The first flight was in Kazan on July 29, 2005. Shortly afterwards, the helicopter was exhibited at the Russian air show MAKS . A demonstrator of the revised helicopter, now called Ansat-2 RZ , was shown for the first time in 2007.

By 2020, 30 of these light combat helicopters are to be delivered to the Russian air force .

construction

The design of the Kasan Ansat-2RZ with four-blade main rotor and tail rotor corresponds to that of a conventional attack helicopter with a gunner seated in front and the pilot raised behind it. Adjacent to this is a cargo area accessible through a door on the left for a payload or up to nine people. The helicopter is equipped with optical and infrared sensors. These sensors can work with limited visibility during day / night and adverse weather conditions. The helicopter is equipped with the Russian electro-optical TOES-521 with thermal imaging camera and laser rangefinder and, according to the manufacturer, can carry weapons up to 1,300 kg on four pylons under stub wings, in addition to a fixed 12.7 mm Kord machine gun on the right Page. The Ansat-2RZ has an automatic self-defense system with four UW-26 decoys on both sides of the fuselage, each with 32 × 26.6 mm heat flare decoys and an infrared stray emitter (IRCM) Sagorski Optisch- und Mechanisches Werk (SOMS) L-166W-1AE Ispanka between the engine outlets .

The Ansat-2RZ is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207K turbo shaft engines with 463 kW each. WK-800W from Klimow in St. Petersburg and TW-500AE from Salut in Moscow are possible alternatives .
