The Kasenda craters (also called Kyatwa volcanic field ) are a group of about 40 to 60 volcanic crater lakes in the Kabarole district in western Uganda about 20 to 30 kilometers south of Fort Portal , those in the area around the town of Kasenda , as well as the towns of Kabata and Rwaihamba , lie. They are one of four larger groups of craters in western Uganda alongside the Fort Portal Craters , Katwe Craters, and Bunyuruguru Craters , all of which were formed by volcanic activity around 10,000 years ago. The lakes are in a rain forest on the West boundary of the Kibale Forest National Parks , whose headquarters at Nyabikeresee is located, and include habitat for Haubentaucher in Uganda.
