Caspanaze Simma
Kaspanaze Simma (actually Kaspar Ignaz Simma ; born September 27, 1954 ) is an Austrian farmer and former politician ( Die Grünen ).
politics
Basically, Kaspanaze Simma can be described as a conservative politician who, as a farmer, sees an intact environment as one of the most important political goals. Green, environmental thinking was always more important to him than alternative ideas.
ÖVP farmers' union
Initially, Simma was a member of the farmers 'association (or young farmers' association) of the ÖVP . As a member of a working group made up of ÖVP politicians and non-party members, he was involved in the development of a project called the Vorarlberg Model , which primarily opposed blind trust in scientific and technical progress.
After the Vorarlberg model was rejected by the party in 1983, he turned his back on the ÖVP.
The green
From 1983 Kaspanaze Simma tried to implement his ideas in the relatively young green movement. As the top candidate of the Alternative List of Austria, which entered into an electoral alliance with the United Greens of Austria, he ran for the Vorarlberg state elections in 1984 . His party not only made it into the state parliament, but was also able to achieve a sensational result of 13 percent of the vote when it first appeared.
Simma was instrumental in the success of the Greens in Vorarlberg. Above all, his unconventional demeanor and straightforwardness earned him a lot of sympathy. He caused a stir, for example, when he distributed cheese from the Bregenzerwald to his competitors on election evening or when he appeared in his usual peasant clothes for the swearing-in in the state parliament. His outward appearance and his new, simple type of politics (looking for the positive in the opponent - "politics of love") made Simma known far beyond the borders of Vorarlberg. The picture of the bearded farmer with a cardigan graced many front pages of international magazines.
In the state elections in 1989 he ran for the United Greens of Austria, but could not get back into the state parliament without an electoral alliance. It was not until the 1994 elections that he was able to move back into the state parliament as the top candidate of the party The Greens - The Green Alternative , merged from the United Greens and the Alternative List . At the end of the legislative period, he no longer ran and left the state parliament in 1999. From 1990 to 2004 he was a member of the municipal council in his home town of Andelsbuch in the Bregenzerwald .
Today Simma speaks a bit bitterly about the Greens: “Unfortunately, many Greens think very one-sidedly. Many do not see what would have been possible there. ”He is also of the opinion that the Greens are positioning themselves too far to the left.
Private
The organic farmer Kaspanaze Simma is married to Lucia. Together with their five children, they run his farm in Andelsbuch in the Bregenzerwald as a self-catering , which he took over from his parents in the 1970s.
