Kaspar Birkhauser

Kaspar Birkhäuser (* 1946 ) is a Swiss historian and politician ( Greens ).

Life

Kaspar Birkhäuser was born as the son of the artist Peter Birkhäuser . He studied history and graduated in 1975 from the University of Basel with a licentiate . In 1982 he received his doctorate there with a thesis on the politician Stephan Gutzwiller from Basel . Birkhäuser worked as a teacher.

He edited the personal encyclopedia of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft (1997), which is freely available online and is being continued, and wrote numerous articles for the Historical Encyclopedia of Switzerland . He was also the co-author of two books on his father and two festschriften.

Birkhäuser was a member of the district administrator of the canton of Basel-Landschaft from July 1, 2003 to December 31, 2009 and was a member of the judiciary and police commission.
